The Mic Light is a privacy-focused meeting indicator light that displays your microphone status. It monitors whether an application is accessing your microphone—nothing more—providing a simple visual indicator to prevent interruptions during calls and recordings.

INITIAL SETUP

  • First Unpack device and inspect for damage.

  • Physical installation: place Mic Light on your monitor or screen using the clip

  • Alternatively remove the clip with a Philips screwdriver and place the Mic light on a flat surface.

  • Route the cable to a Laptop or PC USB slot.

  • Plug in cable to PC then plug in other end to Mic Light. DO NOT OVER INSERT Follow guide image to correctly insert cable. Listen for faint click then do not push harder. 

  • When first connected Mic Light will flash once.

FEATURES

Device turns on with red light when microphone is active this means when a program (such as a meeting program gets permission to use your microphone the light will turn on). 

This means the light stays on even when you are muted preventing interruptions.

The Mic Light can rotate on it's clip to allow for maximum visibility for coworkers or family. 

Similarly the Mic Light can have the clip removed then sit on any flat surface.

How It Works

The Mic Light operates on a simple principle: it monitors your computer's recording session data to detect when an application is accessing your microphone. When your microphone is active, the light illuminates to provide a clear visual indicator.

What it checks: Recording session status only
What it does NOT access: Microphone audio, meeting content, calendar, camera, or internet

PRIVACY POLICY

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. We will never misuse, share, or sell your information. Our product is designed with privacy as a core principle, collecting only the minimal information necessary to function.

Privacy by Design

A simple premise: it should only know the bare minimum to do its job. In this case: is a program using your mic? If yes, you don't want to be interrupted. So that's all our program checks.

  • Cannot access the internet

  • Cannot access your camera

  • Cannot access your calendar

  • Cannot read or access meeting info

  • Does not access microphone data or content

  • Checks only the recording session data which tells it: is an app using your mic!

  • No cookies, cache, user insights.

Troubleshooting

Device Not Lighting Up

  • Check USB connection is secure

  • Try a different USB port on your PC/laptop

  • Ensure driver is properly installed

  • Restart computer and reconnect device

  • Check device is not damaged

Light Not Changing When Microphone Used

  • Verify driver is running (check system tray/menu bar)

  • Check application permissions for microphone access

  • Restart the driver software

  • Update driver to latest version

  • Check compatibility with your application

Device Not Recognized

  • Try different USB port

  • Check USB port is providing power

  • Restart computer

  • Reinstall driver software

  • Contact support if issue persists

Intermittent Operation

  • Check cable is not damaged

  • Ensure cable is not under strain

  • Try different USB port

  • Check for driver updates

  • Verify system meets minimum requirements

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular Maintenance

  • Inspect cable regularly for damage

  • Keep USB connector clean and free from debris

  • Store in a dry environment when not in use

  • Avoid exposing to extreme temperatures

Cleaning Instructions

  1. Unplug the device before cleaning

  2. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the device

  3. For stubborn marks, use a slightly damp cloth (water only) keep water away from port on back.

  4. Never use: Solvents, abrasive cleaners, or spray cleaners

  5. Allow device to dry completely before reconnecting

  6. Do not immerse in water or any liquid

  • Store in original packaging when possible

  • Keep in a cool, dry place

  • Avoid direct sunlight

Warranty Information

Warranty Period

Brighter Devices Ltd warrants this product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. And offers paid repairs after this point.

  • Damage from misuse or abuse

  • Connection to non-approved power sources (mains, chargers, etc.)

  • Physical damage from drops or impacts

Making a Warranty Claim

  1. Contact customer support with proof of purchase

  2. Describe the issue and provide photos if requested

  3. Return device if instructed (RMA number will be provided)

  4. We will repair or replace at our discretion

  5. If cause of issue is due to any of the "What's NOT Covered" section we will still offer our paid repair service and will contact you with details.

Warranty Limitations

This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights. Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties, so some limitations may not apply to you.
